We’ve had a lot of new conversions come through the shop in recent weeks and this one is, perhaps, the pick of them.
It’s a SPECIALIZED Cross Trail- a reasonably new offering from Specialized, catering towards riders who want a bike with the comfort and speed of a flatbar commuter whilst maintaining the rugged versatility of mountain bike componentry. In keeping with this do-everything design, the Cross Trail features a lightweight aluminium frame with a lockable suspension fork allowing 80mm of compliance should the going get rough. Additionally, it runs Tektro Auriga disc brakes, which, whilst an entry level hydraulic unit, offers great braking power and feel in all conditions, on-road and off. The tyres fitted are on the wider end of 700c wheels for use on rough roads and gravel, but could easily be swapped out for lower profile commuter tyres or slicks to fulfill recreational or commuting duties.
On to the electric side of things, we’ve fitted one of our rear-drive mini motor kits with a 350 Watt controller to provide a top speed of around 35km/h for a range of around 35 km when coupled to the 11.6 Ah tube battery fitted. Overall, this conversion will make the bike suited to moderate and long distance commuting, with the comfortable riding position and reliable componentry to match.
At Perth Electric Bikes, we’re always seeing different bikes come in for conversions to suit all manner of purposes. If you think the Cross Trail might be the type of bike for you, or if you need help deciding on what suits your needs, we’re always happy to discuss options to enable or enhance your riding experience.
